Australian Domain Delegation Form

FORM AUNIC-DD-96042201

Obsolete

This form has been disabled - you will get an error when you try to submit

This form was for requesting changes to the DNS records visible on the Internet for info.au (and possibly dropbear.id.au) domains.

This form was used for full nameserver delegations and for domains which only require the insertion of mail exchanger (MX) records. The domain name must be one which has been previously registered in the AUNIC Registry.

For more information on delegation of domains, mail exchanger records and other aspects of the Internet Domain Name System, there are some dns notes.

Please note, on 1 July 2002, org.au was transitioned to auDA Accredited Registrars and AusRegistry. As of 1 August 2002, gov.au is handled by domainname.gov.au. AUNIC has ceased to be the edu.au registry. For details please see edu.au transition notice.

The information you provide for this form will be made publicly available on the Internet (specifically: section 2 and section 4 or 5).

If you are requesting full nameserver delegation for this domain then complete Section 4

In the unlikely event that you only wish to establish mail exchanger (MX) records for this domain then complete Section 5.

Most people prefer to use full nameserver delegation instead, in which case you can control the MX records on your own DNS server, like any other DNS record.

If you wish to delete all DNS records for this domain then complete Section 6.

4. Name Server Information

Domains must provide at least two independent servers that provide the domain service for translating names to addresses for hosts in this domain. Also, establishing the servers in physically separate locations and on different networks is strongly recommended.

See RFC 2182 for details on Selection and Operation of Secondary DNS Servers.

All servers listed in NS records in the zone file (on your primary DNS server) MUST be listed in this section. No servers not listed in NS records in the zone may be listed here. The two lists, the NS records in your DNS zone, and the list of Servers entered in this form below, must be the same.

All these servers MUST be configured for the domain and running before submission of this form.

5. Mail Exchanger Information

Do not fill in this section if you have DNS servers for this domain.

Hosts listed as mail exchangers for this domain must be configured to handle mail for the domain using information other than that supplied via the domain name service.

You MUST make arrangements for this with your mail provider before submitting this form.

You should advise your mail provider that they can expect a query as to their readiness to process mail for this domain, and request that they reply in the affirmative as quickly as possible, as processing of this request cannot be completed until that reply has been received. Alternatively request your provider to send an indication that they are ready (the provider sending this form will do) without waiting for the request.

List up to three mail exchanger hosts.

6. Delete DNS records
Delete all DNS records for this domain

This option will `un-delegate' the domain, so that it is not visible for DNS lookups.

7. For edu.au domains, you must enter the AUNIC Registry Key for the domain:

8. If you have any other information that you feel we need to be aware of please add it here.
